Prof. (Dr) P. J. Patel

Having more than 26 years of academic and industry experience, Dr. Piyushkumar J. Patel has been working presently as a Professor, Department of Civil Engineering of Vidush Somany Institute of Technology and Research, a constituent institute of Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya, under the aegis of Sarva Vidyalaya Kelavani Mandal since 1st June 2019. Before this, he had worked as Professor & Head, Department of Civil Engineering, and also the Vice Principal of U. V. Patel College of Engineering (Ganpat University) from 1st January, 2002 to 31st. May, 2019. He also holds the total Industrial experience of 8 years and 6 months. He graduated from L. E. College Morbi in the 1993 and served in the industries such as VTMSML and Nirma Limited. His duties in the industries were site engineer and project engineer. He entered in education domain in 2002 as a lecturer in Shree B. S. Patel Polytechnic (BSPP) located in Ganpat University campus. He played a significant role in fetching Civil Engineering branch at BSPP. Considering his wholehearted dedication for the development the department, he was appreciated and sponsored for post-graduation at SVNIT in 2004. He resumes his duty in 2006 after completing his M.Tech. (Civil) with specialization in Structural Engineering with first class with distinction. There after he was promoted to degree engineering college (U V Patel College of Engineering – UVPCE) in 2006 at the same campus Ganpat University. He played key role for staring the Civil Engineering programme at UVPCE in 2008. He got registered for Ph.D. in the same field and completing Ph.D. in Advance Concrete Technology in 2014 from Ganpat University with 10 paper published in international journals and conference. Meanwhile, he attended at 20 summer, winter schools workshop and conference at prime institute like IITs and NITs. During the time, M.Tech Programme was launched in 2014, Construction Engineering and Management, Structural Engineering and Transportation Engineering. He has guided total 35 students at M.E./M.Tech and earned credit of publishing 31 more paper at reputed journals. Currently, he has successfully supervised 04 Ph.D. candidates in different areas of civil engineering. Apart from academic involvement, he made the department signed MOUs with government agencies like ONGC, GIDC, Amubja Cement (AKC) and others. He took all the initiatives to start material testing and consultation work at the Ganpat University institute in 2008. The income earned so far by way of material testing stands to be around 55 lacs while for consulting the same stands at 45 lacs. The clients of consulting work include ONGC, GEB and Water Supply Board and other reputed government sectors and private industries. He had promoted and executed the bio-gas plant from Kitchen waste at our Uma Parivar Hostel premises, which is subsidized by the Government of Gujarat. Beside this, he played key role to manage and arrange curriculum and extra curriculum activates.
